Ledger Live
Ledger Live is more than a wallet interface — it is the control center for secure crypto ownership, designed to help users manage, protect, and grow their digital assets with confidence and clarity.
In the world of cryptocurrency, control and responsibility go hand in hand. While exchanges make buying and selling easy, they require users to trust third parties with their assets. Ledger Live was created for those who want something different — true ownership.

Ledger Live acts as the visual and functional layer of a Ledger hardware wallet, allowing users to interact with blockchains while keeping private keys completely offline. It bridges usability and security, ensuring that even complex crypto actions feel structured, deliberate, and safe.
What Is Ledger Live?
Ledger Live is the official desktop and mobile application built to work exclusively with Ledger hardware wallets. It allows users to view balances, send and receive cryptocurrency, manage multiple accounts, install blockchain apps on their device, and review transaction history — all from one unified interface.

Importantly, Ledger Live does not store private keys, passwords, or sensitive credentials. Every critical action must be approved on the physical Ledger device itself, making Ledger Live a powerful yet secure companion rather than a custodial service.
Core Principles Behind Ledger Live
Self-Custody
You remain the sole owner of your private keys and assets.
Offline Security
Sensitive operations are isolated from internet threats.
Human Verification
Every transaction requires physical confirmation.
How Ledger Live Works
Ledger Live functions as a secure communication layer between your Ledger device and blockchain networks. The application gathers blockchain data, prepares transactions, calculates fees, and displays information clearly on your screen.

When a transaction is initiated, the Ledger hardware wallet independently displays the transaction details. Only after you physically verify and approve the information does the device cryptographically sign the transaction. This ensures malware, fake interfaces, and phishing attempts cannot silently move your funds.
Ledger Live Security Model Explained
Ledger Live assumes that computers and mobile devices may be compromised. For this reason, it treats them as untrusted environments. Private keys are generated and stored inside the Ledger device’s secure element — a tamper-resistant chip similar to those used in banking systems.

Even if an attacker gains control of your computer, they cannot steal funds without access to your physical device. This design dramatically reduces risks associated with spyware, keyloggers, and malicious browser extensions.
Why Ledger Live Is Beginner-Friendly
New crypto users often feel overwhelmed by blockchain terminology and irreversible transactions. Ledger Live addresses this by slowing down critical action Ledger banner
